Mount Fairy trainer Grant Forrest will be hoping Orlando Storm can continue her recent good form when she steps out in the $10,040 Haras Des Trotteurs Mobile at the Goulburn Paceway tomorrow.
The mobile 2240 metres event has drawn together a good field of in-form trotters with Forrest’s mare drawn in gate 7. “She’s not drawn well but is racing in good form, has a great driver on and should go close” said Forrest.
Orlando Storm last raced on Monday at Bankstown when she contested a standing start trot. While the mare was slow to get going from the stand, she did make up a big deficit when a fast finishing third to Viksun who is also engaged in Friday’s trot.
“It was her first standing start in a long time, and while she didn’t gallop from the start, she was slow to get into her stride. She ended up a long way back but raced home nicely” explained Forrest.
Orlando Storm is one of four starters from the Forrest stable with Sally Em the best of the other three.
“Sally Em is starting to find her best form and was a good winner at Canberra last Monday night. She is likely to go forward and I’ll leave it to Cameron (Hart) what he does with Stormy” Forrest added.
Menangle region trotters Allaboutthemoment for KerryAnn Morris, and Viksun for Russell Commens appeal as the hardest to beat.
Allaboutthemoment who has drawn gate 4 is the course record holder for the 2240 metres distance, while Viksun is racing in great heart having won two of his last three starts.
The co-feature $10,040 Goulburn Soldiers Club Sapling Stakes has drawn together a small field of six following the scratching of Shoulda Passed, with the Stephen Maguire trained Noble Trick likely to go to the post as one of the popular elects.
Trained in the Riverina, Noble Trick won at Wagga Wagga on debut recording a smart 1:57.3 mile rate. The 2-year-old Bling It On gelding will come out of gate 3 and looks to have the speed to take up the running.
Hardest to beat will be the Bathurst trained pacers Saint Veran, Promising and Take Out.
Check the Goulburn Paceway Facebook page for the late mail which will be issued Friday morning.
