Billysbredone and Sam Hewitt pre race at Goulburn Paceway
The Goulburn Paceway will see an interesting 8 race program of harness racing this coming Monday afternoon.
Race 1 is scheduled for the early start of 11.55 am.
In race 3, the Hollingworth Crane Hire Service Pace, Billysbredone will be looking to bring up career win one when he lines up at 1.03 pm.
Trained by Goulburn trainer Sam Hewitt, Billysbredone will be having his fourth start since a spell and should be at his top for this afternoon’s assignment. “He’s had troubles with his stifles but I think I have him right now” said Sam who will also drive the 4 year old Robin Hood gelding.
The pacer is owned by Crookwell owners Peter Haynes, Ed Abbey and Janet Haynes, and is listed as a $5 chance in early betting markets.
In a race for horses without a lifetime win, Billysbredone is ideally drawn in barrier 2 providing Sam with the option of going forward or settling in the running line.
At his most recent start, Hewitt and Billysbredone were caught on the peg line and had little luck when finishing sixth of twelve at Wagga. Beaten only 7 metres, the pacer was looking for runs as he worked home strongly over the concluding stages.
“He’s had three runs this time in and his track work has been good, I really like his chances” said Hewitt.
In a race with a few chances, the hardest to beat is the consistent Kenny Jay who will start from gate 4, and the Darryll Kell trained Haughty who will be fitter following three runs from a spell.
Race 4 of the afternoon, the RSM Accountants Goulburn Pace will see the return of the Tim Butt trained Superbass. An impressive winner at Goulburn in late April, Superbass backed up at the Sapling Stakes meeting with a solid third behind the promising Rockin Marty from the David Hewitt stable.
To be driven by Anthony Butt, Superbass will start from outside the front row but looks to have too much strength and class for his opposition.
Racing today is scheduled to commence at 11.55 am and the club’s committee invites all harness fans to come out and experience the wonderful facilities of the Grace Millson Centre. Enjoy quality food and a wide range of cold alcoholic and soft drinks whilst watching all the racing action in comfort.
