Bently Bullet at the Goulburn Paceway
An interesting 8 race program of harness racing is scheduled to get underway at 1.02pm tomorrow at the Goulburn Paceway. With fine warm conditions forecast, the Monday afternoon meeting provides local trainers and drivers some excellent opportunities.
While the leading trainers often get the majority of the spoils, tomorrow’s meeting looks to favour some of the hobbyist trainers.
In the fifth of the afternoon, the Glen Mia ACT Saddlery Pace, Bently Bullet trained by Phil Willis has drawn gate 10. Facing a big drop in class from when finishing a close up fifth in a Waratah Series Heat at this track in September, Bently Bullet will be looking for a change of luck.
“He’s been racing without luck since he ran here, and I’m hoping he can break through for another win” said owner Kay Willis.
In three starts since the Goulburn effort, Bently Bullet has raced in higher graded races finishing close up.
Last start he drew the outside line at Penrith and had to be restrain to the rear, whilst at his previous two starts at Wagga he competed in up to 53 and 58 rated races without drawing advantageously.
In tomorrow’s assignment he will be driven by Scott Osmond, and while drawing gate 10, the 7 year old is back to Goulburn where he has won 3 races, and appeals as a great each way bet.
Hardest to beat is the Annette Towers trained Dream To Dance, and John Micallef’s Rocketon who draws gate 1.
In race 3, the First National Real Estate Goulburn Pace, the Eddie Galea trained Forever Reason has also drawn gate 10 and will be driven by Brad Hewitt. First up she was a good fifth at Canberra behind Argent Peak on the 15 October, and will strip a lot fitter for that effort.
“She’s been working really good, and looks very well, so were hoping she can run well” said trainer Eddie Galea.
Hardest to beat is the David Waite trained Ultimate Ad who has drawn alongside Forever Reason in gate 9.
The main race of the afternoon is the Goulburn Soldiers Club Pace which is scheduled as the last of the day at 5.25pm.
The Neil Day trained Baxter Red has drawn gate 5, and following some very good trail efforts at the Goulburn track, he was a strong second at West Wyalong when forced to race outside the leader.
To be driven again by Jimmy Locke, the free legged Baxter Red appeals as the best bet of the day. Hardest to beat are Marulan trainer Dean Atkinson’s Dragon Tattoo and the Rickie Alchin trained Caster Semenya.
Members and fans are invited to get trackside for what will be a very good racing meeting, and to enjoy the wonderful facilities of the Grace Millsom Centre.
The club continues with its members bonuses and encourages all to renew their membership with the ladies selling race books to be eligible for the Members Draw. This season the club continues with the Members’ $50 All-Up. Members are reminded they must register their attendance at the track to give themselves a chance at one of the ten $50 all-up bets on the last 4 races.
