Construction works on the spectators’ viewing area at the Goulburn Paceway are drawing to a close with the project scheduled for completion in late November. Commissioned by Goulburn Mulwaree Council, the facility is part of a $7 million dollar project to build a multi-use centre at the Goulburn Recreation Area. With the major construction elements completed, workers at the site are now focussed on installing the glass front, completing the interior service areas and giving the grand building a colourful exterior.
Site foreman for Hines Construction, Shane Noye has confirmed the works are on schedule which if met will see the Goulburn Harness Racing Club make first use of the facilities when the club hosts a race meeting on the 9th of December.
Club secretary Mark Croatto stated,”regular patrons at our race meetings should be very impressed; the new facility will provide commanding views of the races in comfort. The building has all any race goer would hope to have for a great day out at the track”
Spanning a distance of 67.5 metres between the greyhound and harness winning posts, the viewing area is raised well above ground level and is housed behind a covered balcony and full glass front. Facilities will include full TAB and Bookmaker services, a commercial kitchen and dining area, function room, ample seating and most importantly, an outstanding view of the racing which previously was never possible.
