Pacing action at the Goulburn Paceway
A reimagined Carnival of Cups race day, and a Hewitt Memorial fixture which grows in popularity each year will be the highlights of a big racing season coming up at Goulburn.
The action kicks off next Monday afternoon, the 18th September, when the club hosts a $9,792 Level A meeting.
With a race meeting scheduled each month thereafter, the Goulburn Club’s committee and membership look forward to 10 action packed race days culminating with the Hewitt Memorial race day on Sunday 21st April, and Carnival of Cups race day on Sunday 28th April 2024.
In a bold move, Harness Racing NSW has revamped the Carnival of Cups race brand which will now be held at only 5 country centres.
Featuring $60,000 cup races, massive bonus prizemoney incentives, and trackside entertainment such as The Whitlams and music luminary Darryl Braithwaite, Harness Racing NSW will partner with each club to breathe new life into the Carnival of Cups format.
The Goulburn Club is grateful for being afforded the opportunity to showcase equine excellence and blockbuster entertainment.
“We very much appreciate the chance to host this day of racing and entertainment” said club secretary Mark Croatto. “It will be a big event for Goulburn which is so well located to draw people to the event from southern Sydney, the Southern Highlands and the ACT” Croatto added.
Carnival of Cups race day at Goulburn, in addition to the $60,000 Frank and Edna Day Goulburn Cup, will also feature the $20,000 Goulburn Sapling Stakes for 2yo pacers, the Goulburn Trotters Cup, and the Goulburn Rose, with prizemoney for those events yet to be finalized.
New to the Carnival of Cups brand will be supersized bonus prizemoney incentives. Horses that win all, or part of, the races determined to be Carnival of Cups Bonus Races will be eligible for the following:
- For any three (3) races, a bonus of $100,000 will be paid
- For any four (4) races, a bonus of $200,000 will be paid
- For all five (5) races, a bonus of $300,000 will be paid
With racing commencing next Monday, members are reminded to renew their membership of the Goulburn Harness Racing Club so as to qualify for member benefits which this season continues with the $50 ‘All Up’ bonus.
