New Season Race Dates
Harness Racing NSW confirmed at the Harness Racing Clubs Committee meeting held on Thursday 30th May, the budget and race dates for the upcoming 2013-2014 racing season. The Goulburn club was allocated a total of 10 ‘C’ front meetings, whilst courtesy of the NSW Harness Racing club; Goulburn will also host 2 metropolitan meetings.
Whilst confirming the race dates, the meeting also revealed a new look Tier racing structure. From July, 2013, Tier 1 meetings will consist of 8 x $6,000 races, Tier 2 be a combination of 6 x $5,500 and 2 x $3,000 races, whilst Tier 3 will be 2 x $5,000 and 6 x $3,000 races.
The Goulburn club’s allocation consists of 2 x Tier 1, 2 x Tier 2 and 6 x Tier 3 meetings and its feature races dates are as follows:
- Breeders Challenge Regional Finals (Sunday 28th July, 2013)
- Carnival of Cups race day (Monday 27th January, 2104)
- Tom Hewitt Memorial/Goulburn Sapling Stakes race day (Monday 3rd March, 2014)
With a more compact racing term, the Goulburn Club is putting the final touches to 5 separate heats and finals series. Consisting of $3,000 heats, the finals for each series will carry a minimum $7,000 and will cater to the lower assessed country horses.
